You don’t have to be a member to volunteer! There are many activities
to help the students get ready for a show, to do the show and end a
show. Many times our volunteers
help for just an hour or so during a show they are already attending. Contact any member (or Board member
listed on the home page) and see
how you can help your son or daughter have the best experience possible. We are assistants to the
Music Directors. These three
adults are responsible for over 150 of our combined students. We help with student safety and
comfort. Your child’s safety and comfort! I. During
a football game we help in many ways: ♪
Making minor
uniform repairs (buttons, etc.). ♪
Transporting
large instruments and “Pit” equipment from the band room to the
field and back. ♪
Handing out
water to students at half time. ♪
The band
members cannot leave the band group while in uniform. We escort students to restrooms. ♪
Helping out
with minor emergencies. ♪
Keeping track
of the personal belongings (like band jackets) in the stands while the
half-time field show is happening. ♪
We may travel
on the bus, chaperoning for away events. ♪
Collecting the
uniforms after the game performance – and making sure all parts are
accounted for. ♪
Handing out
candy after the entire uniform is hung-up properly. II. During a parade we do all of the above and… ♪
We have a
“chase car” for minor emergencies and for carrying equipment ♪
Walk with the
band during the parade – around their perimeter. We are an extension of the
performing groups directors III. During
a concert ♪
We help set up
staging and chairs. ♪
We collect donations
at the door. ♪
We hand out
the program and ad book. IV. During
field trips we travel on the busses and into the event as chaperone’s ♪
We keep count
of how many students are on each bus. ♪
We help keep
track of the students during the event. ♪
We make sure
we have all the students when we leave. ♪
We work with
the directors as they need extra hands and eyes. Any suggestions can be emailed to the webmaster. |
